I was reading my student emails the day after the elections and I guess there was a problem at one of the polling places because they would not allow people to vote only with their student ID. I thought this was interesting because I guess someone argued it and was able to vote. How many students were turned away from voting this year because of this discrepancy? |

I thought that our conversation last Tuesday was very relavent in regards to stalking people on the internet. I was listening to my room mates over the last week about how they look everything up about people on facebook. They find out about people's relationship status before they can even get a chance to call them to tell them in person. I think that people put out too much information sometimes in regard to this type of information-I am also guilty of this though-my relationship status is on facebook. I had to laugh when I heard how much they check their facebook in a day. I personally check mine once a day if even that. |

| Daniel Quinn |

When I was listening to Daniel Quinn on Thursday I wondered why he was so blunt in his answers. He pretty much said at times that we were over-analyzing the book, like that one girl had pointed out. For example, when he merely picked the gorilla because it was a large creature-I thought it was perceived as a wise creature that was sought to have all the answers. It also seemed that he thought there was a definite seperation between Leavers and Takers, but when someone asked what he thought he was he answered both. I do not see why he thought he was the exception. |

September 9th and 10th I was in Bemidji for an archery competition. I competed on Saturday afternoon. I took fourth place in my group! I got to go camping while I was over there. It was freezing cold at night though- I had four blankets and was still cold. When I woke up and got out of the tent there were ice crystals all over the outside of the tent-burr!!! I have also got to spend a lot of quality time with my other sweet-mates. We have gone out to eat a couple of times, gone shopping to decorate our bathroom, stayed up late watching movies and talking. We also spend a ton of time looking at the PERIODIC TABLE in our room- no we are not science fanatics-it is just interesting!!! |

Sara Stevens DGN 1101 September 19, 2006 Blog Assignment
1. All Scouts. http://community.livejournal.com/all_scouts/ 2. This community is open to all individuals that are ‘in to” scouting. I found it interesting because for the past four summers I have worked at a cub scout camp and many of these people are also actively involved. 3. “When your co-workers turn into cookie monsters for their girl scouts.” “Scout gets knife lodged in brain.”
1. B & beyond B. http://community.livejournal.com/after_b/ 2. It is about Ishmael. It addresses how people love or hate Ishmael. It also questions whether we should try to be more like the Leavers instead of the Takers. Lastly it talks about personal thoughts about the author, Daniel Quinn. I found it interesting because most groups only give one view and this addresses both sides of the spectrum. 3. “People generally don’t think I’m crazy anymore. Whether I am or not, they generally don’t say so.” Jay Shafer, founder, Tumbleweed Tiny House Company. “There wasn’t any learning going on” another student complained. “They make you take classes in school that you’re never going to use in life.”
1. Upper-Class Sports & Luxury Autos. http://community.livejournal.com/upperclass_auto/ 2. This is about new cars: the look, the speed, and other random thoughts that people have about nice cars. I really like this site because I really into cars. I like to work on them, see the new makes and models, and go to car shows. 3. “Does it bother anyone else that the new Jaguar XK’s grill looks a lot like the Taurus?” “Now THIS is a front end.” |

| About Me |
[Sep. 18th, 2006|01:39 pm] |
This spring I went on a nine day backpacking trip over in South Dakota-Badlands and Wind Cave National Park. I have to say it was an adventure. We backpacked for endless hours which was sweet except for when we had to add on miles to avoid the HUGE buffalo. We stayed in tents in the middle of nowhere and cooked all our own food. I loved it and would like to do it again. Over the summer I worked at a cub scout camp as a lifeguard. I worked six out of seven days a week. It was a ton of fun. The staff is one that I will never be able to compare to another job. Some of my interests include: camping, swimming, bathing in the sun, archery, hiking, working on cars, watching demo derby races and speedway races, working out, rollerblading (as long as there is no big downhill), running, sudoku, talking on the phone, shopping (only on occassion), hanging out with close friends, and the given-just laying around and relaxing. My favorite book that I have read within the last year was ORYX AND CRAKE by Margaret Atwood. My favorite movies are Double Jeopardy, Fast and the Furious (all of them), The Transporter and The Transpoter 2. |
